The Tactical Mechanical Tourniquet was built around one goal: stopping life threatening limb bleeding quickly, reliably, and with as little room for error as possible. It is recommended by the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) and carried by military, medical, and public safety professionals.

Its wider compression band can stop bleeding at lower pressure than narrower designs, which also makes it more comfortable on the limb. When the torsion bar is secured, you hear a distinct click, so you know it is locked even in the dark, in the rain, or with your adrenaline spiking.

How it's used

For life threatening bleeding from an arm or leg:

1. Call 911, or have someone call for you.
2. Place the tourniquet 2 to 3 inches above the wound, between the wound and the heart. Never over a joint; go above the joint if needed.
3. Pull the strap as tight as possible and secure it.
4. Twist the torsion bar until the bleeding stops, then lock it until you hear the click.
5. Note the time it was applied and leave the tourniquet in place for EMS.

A tourniquet will hurt. That's expected and necessary to stop life threatening bleeding.

A tourniquet is a single use device. Once it has been used on a real injury, replace it. A tourniquet is a tool, not training.
