Trauma Shears
Introduction
Your Traumoto kit includes a pair of trauma shears designed to quickly expose injuries by cutting through clothing, riding gear, bandages, and other materials that may obstruct access to a patient.
Depending on your kit configuration, your kit may include either 5.7" trauma shears or XShears®. While the design and construction differ, both are intended to safely and efficiently assist with exposing injuries when needed.

Purpose
Trauma shears are designed to:
- Cut away clothing to expose injuries.
- Cut bandages and medical supplies.
- Assist with removing gear or equipment when appropriate.
Basic Operation
- Hold the shears with a firm, comfortable grip.
- Carefully guide the blunt lower tip beneath the clothing or material whenever possible.
- Cut away from the patient whenever practical.
- Continue cutting only as needed to expose the area of interest.
Always operate the shears carefully to avoid unnecessary injury or damage.
Inspection
Regularly inspect your trauma shears for:
- Loose hardware or pivot screw.
- Dull or damaged cutting edges.
- Rust or corrosion.

- Excessive wear or damage.
Replace your shears if they become damaged or no longer operate smoothly.
